Join CovidSurg Week with GlobalSurg

The impact of COVID-19 has been devastating, and has had far-reaching consequences to both emergency and elective surgery worldwide. There is thus an urgent need to understand the outcomes of COVID-19 positive patients who undergo surgery across the world.

CovidSurg Week, a new GlobalSurg initiative, hopes to do exactly that. Already, the collaboration has published an article on 1129 surgical patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection in The Lancet.

CovidSurg Week will continue to build on that as an international multi-centre cohort study that aims to:
  1. Determine the optimal timing of surgery following SARS-CoV-2 infection;
  2. Determine key global surgical indicators, such as postoperative mortality rates.

All hospitals are eligible to participate in this study, including hospitals that have not admitted SARS-CoV-2 infected patients.

Data collection will be on all surgical patients (children and adults) with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection. Hence, it is a unique opportunity to collect a snapshot of global surgical outcomes data for children in addition to assessing the impact of COVID-19. We encourage all to participate.

Sign-up from this week ready to start data collection for 1 week from the beginning of October.
